There’s a blizzard in the North Country today. This morning it was nothing but heavy rain. In fact, when I left for work it felt quite warm. In the blink of an eye, right around 7:30, it shifted to heavy snow and it hasn’t let up since! An Cailleach is making up for lost time and spreading her wintery cloak over the land!
Don’t forget your neighborhood birds during this time. One of the easiest ways to connect to the Nature Spirits in the winter is by putting out birdseed. Not only will it help the birds (and squirrels), but it will entertain your cats! If you have your own wooded yard, also consider putting out some food for the deer and turkey. Some of my fondest memories are watching the backyard come to life in the dead of winter!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I plan to spend the rest of this snowy day enjoying homemade soup, tea, and hot cocoa! If you are experiencing this blizzard, stay safe and warm!
